ALFEBOR also provides Fiberglass Water Storage Tanks in parallel with developing and manufacturing GRP pipes and products. ALFEBOR water tanks are comprised of tank body, endcaps and different connectors and accessories. The basic raw materials used in manufacturing the tank are fiberglass, resin and filling material. In general, unsaturated polyester resins are used as such resins render maximum performance for drinking water applications.
The main body is manufactured using the continuous advancing mandrel process. This process allows the use of continuous glass fiber reinforcements in the circumferential direction. The main stress is in the circumferential direction for a pressurized product or buried pipe. Thus, a high-performance product with a low cost can be obtained due to incorporating continuous reinforcements in this direction. A highly-compacted maximizes the additives derived from three basic raw materials. Both continuous glass fiber strings and chopped strings are incorporated in the process for high ring resistance and axial support. A sand fortifier, placed near the neutral axis in the core, increases stiffness by adding extra thickness. The tank body will be equipped with all required connectors and accessories before fitting endcaps to the main body by means on lamination method.
Each water tank undergoes pressure and vacuum tests at the factory prior to shipment in order to carry out quality control and impermeability test.
