The raw materials are supplied along with certificates in conformity with quality criteria determined by ALFEBOR.
In addition, all raw materials and other materials, which are inputs for production, are subjected to sample testing. These tests ensure that the pipe raw materials comply with the determined criteria.
Glass Fiber
Direct Roving Fibers: supplied in a cylindrical package just like spools so that the threads are not damaged.
Chopped Strands: are distributed inside the pipe by cutting in a way similar to the mono-direction continuous fiber.
Reinforcing fiber filaments: held together thanks to adhesive resin.
Resin
Polyester resin is dissolved in styrene monomer, thus allowing resin acquire its final thermoset structure with these cross filaments. Organic peroxide catalyst is used in curing polyester resin.
Silica Sand
Sand is used to increase the rigidity of the pipe and it is placed around the neutral axis of the pipe. The sand used generally contains high silica content
